Bus and Coach
Public transport at East Midlands has come on a lot in recent years, particularly in terms of promoting sustainable travel. The most convenient and accessible form of public tranpsort is undoubtedly bus and coach.
The airport runs four ‘Skylink’ services – to and from Nottingham, Leicester, Derby and Loughborough – every 30 minutes, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. From Nottingham, a single is £5 and a return £8 and the journey takes 45 minutes. From Leicester, a single is £6 and a return £10 and the journey takes an hour. From Derby, a single is £3.20 and a return £6.20 and the trip takes half an hour. From Loughborough, a single is £2.40 and a return £4.60, and it also takes half an hour. All buses are accessible for disabled people.
On all the Skylink services, a family return (for up to two adults and three kids) is just £10, which is fantastic value, especially compared to a taxi.
There is also an ‘Airlink’ service between the airport and the village of Coalville, operating every hour during the day. A single is £2.10.
Another service, ‘Indigo’, offers lots of space for luggage and links the airport to Nottingham and Loughborough. It runs from early morning until about midnight. A single is £2.20 from Loughborough and £2.60 from Nottingham. A return is £4.40.
Timetables are available at the official airport site.
